A Ranking System where Players and Teams are able to pit their strength againsst each other is fundamental for a online gaming league. Winners raise their ranking and Losers slip to the bottom of the league tables. Leagues & Ladders provide the possibility for teams to document their Victorys and Achievements in Points and Rankings.

In nearly every offered 4Players league Game you can choose between several different Leagues and ladders, where you can fight for Fame and Glory or great money prizes at the 4Players Pro leagues. A so called ladder is a exposed Ranking System where Teams or Players can play encounters against each other. Participants can join or leave with no impact to the ladder system. All encounters are arranged by the participants. Points are given automatic for victorys, defeats or draws and become calculated by the ELO-Plain System. The Elo rating system is a method for calculating the relative skill levels of players in two-player games and was original such invented for chess, where a  statistical endeavor, by contrast, uses a model that relates the game results to underlying variables representing the ability of each player.

In opposition to this, leagues have a fixed number of Participants and scheduled match days. Participants get a determined number of points for wins and draws normally no points will be received for defeats.
